MHA #6, Thursday Evening - PARTY!

Liam and Verity had decided to celebrate the whole 'officially moving in together' with a housewarming of sorts. Never mind that even before the rest of his stuff had made it over there, Liam had basically been living at the apartment in practice if not in name. Look, they wanted to throw a party, they were throwing a party. 'Housewarming' was just a convenient excuse.

The weapons that usually were strewn about the apartment had all been stashed in the bedroom, and there was a good selection of food and drinks (both alcoholic and non) laid out on the kitchen table. They might be in debt to the various restaurants in Fandom for providing the spread, but no one wanted to nosh on Verity's "leftover Chinese food fajita specials." The mice had even been bribed with a selection of the appetizers to stay away from the table of food. (They had not, however, been expressly forbidden from trying to convince anyone to give them food once it had left the table, so... fair warning.)

Coats go in the spare room and please don't touch the Barbie Dream House. Unless invited to by the mice, of course.

[ooc: up early for SP because things like timezones and work get in the way. open to all friends, neighbours, ex-housemates, coworkers, friends-of-friends, etc. basically, if you're an adult you got an invite.]

Liam had been nice when Seivarden met him, and even if there no doubt woul be people here she'd rather not talk to, she could probably avoid them. And any finger food. She could avoid any finger food.

She hadn't met Verity and looked forward to doing so, hoping that they would at least get along.

Guess who was all about an excuse to party? If you guessed it would be one Beauregard, you would be correct, because nothing said 'promising young monk of the Cobalt Soul' like a whole lot of gratuitous partying.

Besides, Liam was a friend (and that was still weird and hilarious), so she had to at least show up to, you know, give him a hard time or something.

Kanan had actually taken a little bit of nerving up to show up to this particular party, yes. He knew Liam worked with the troopers at the station every day, but had no idea how far that working relationship extended to casual invitations to housewarming parties, or whatever.

So he was here with his lightsaber broken down into parts, and keeping an eye out. But mostly relaxed.

Look, he brought wine!

... For everyone but himself, presumably.

Beau didn't want to get kicked out of Liam's place or anything, so she had no intention of actually starting anything, but . . .

Well, she couldn't help shooting an intentionally annoying smirk in Seivarden's direction at one point, because she really was kind of a dick that way sometimes.

Give her a little time, Liam, and she'd figure out how to actually weaponize this move, but Beau wasn't a scary-quick, agile little piece of shit for nothing; she snapped one hand up reflexively and neatly snagged the pretzel out of the air.

To eat it, not throw it back at him, because again she didn't get that until level 3 hadn't quite mastered that move.

"Good looking out, man," she said, saluting him with the half-eaten pretzel.

Well, Rosa figured she should probably make an appearance at this thing, since, you know, it was her boss holding a housewarming party in the same building she lived in, which may work in her favor because that meant an escape would be incredibly easy. And she actually did like Kincaid and Verity seemed alright, and there was always the possibility of just watching other people getting drunk and acting like idiots, so she was game.

It was less likely to be a trainwreck like Holt parties could be, though she wasn't sure if that was a pro or a con.

Either way, she was here, she cleaned up nice for it and everything, and even put a bow on a congratulatory bottle of champagne. Which she figured would earn her a few good social-professional points to last her for a few months, right?

Kaidan found out he'd received an invite when Jack had thrown his phone at his head and demanded he read his messages. He'd caught the phone and checked his messages. Tossed off a quick RSVP to Liam to let him know he'd be there. Went shopping for a housewarming gift. He had no idea what to get but when he saw the very large tin of tea biscuits, the good kind that alternate frosting and the kind with plummy currants in, he laughed to himself and brought it. The card attached said "Bribes" on it. For the mice, in case of immediate or future need.

He ignored Seivarden like she wasn't even there.

Kaidan wandered up to Liam and handed him the tin with a small smile. "Congratulations on cohabitation!"

Soooo, Summer, like, barely knew Liam or Verity, like, at all, but wasn't that part of what these housewarming parties were all about? Getting to know your neighbors better? So Summer was totally there, because how could she not be, it was literally, like, just upstairs and the word party in general had been woefully absent from life lately.

Since she didn't really know either of them very well, she just brought over a nice little houseplant as a gift with a fully loaded T&C gift card in there because those were always useful and crazy convenient. Boo-yah. Neighbor points. Party time!

Miguel had to come and wish Liam and Verity the best, and there was nothing wrong with a good party, either, so here he was, with a bottle of wine as a housewarming present.

"Hey." Miguel lifted his own bottle-of-wine gift. "Guess we're all pretty non-original. They'll be in drinks for ages."

With his metabolism, Miguel was all about the food.

And he was probably going to end up a sucker for the mice, too. What? They were adorable!

"It's a pretty long trek," Rosa informed him, "so...you're welcome. Also, congrats, I guess."

Whatever it was that had caused a few bumps not too long ago had clearly worked itself out, and that was about as deep into it as Rosa wanted to go, but she could at least acknowledge it on the most surface level of things possible.

Ugh. Small talk should pretty much be considered torture. And small talk with people you worked with should be considered worse than torture.
